ActivViewer

The Activplant ActivViewer is all about providing highly visible, pertinent information at the plant floor. To achieve this, ActivViewer works as an add-on to ActivEssentials, from which it presents a fresh, higher level of openness to the people who operate your production lines. With ActivViewer, you can push graphical, low-latency, production-related messaging to computer monitors and large high-definition displays to ensure the delivery of focused information to your production personnel.

When you present information in this way, you reinforce a prime tenet of Lean Manufacturing by involving your plant floor operators in the production process. Through this, you empower your workforce by placing in their hands the information they need as they work towards their own goals—so your well informed workforce becomes a more productive workforce.

As ActivViewer is able to present graphical information in a high-definition format, you can display any of the easily interpreted charts and graphs that the ActivEssentials platform can produce, including any of our production reports. Since ActivViewer is essentially a web viewer, you can also display any webpage you consider appropriate.

To present this information, ActivViewer uses the concept of a slide show to display sequences of screens on the specified monitors and remote clients. You use the ActivViewer administration interface to define decks of slides that are specific to each monitor or client, so the slide shows reflect what is important to just the viewers of any particular display.

As you set up ActivViewer, you can define a master set of slides that should run during normal production, but you can also have alternative slide shows. These alternatives can be scheduled for specified times or can be automatically triggered by specified events on a line, such as the occurrence of production incidents or maybe a product changeover.

Your slide shows can contain historical data, such as production counts and other KPIs for the current shift, or, for example, a near real-time display of machine states. For all newly displayed screens the data is always up-to-date, but once displayed you can set an update frequency to keep the information fresh.

ActivViewer Key Features

• Lightweight. Within hardware and operating system limitations, ActivViewer player host computers can manage as many monitors or remote/thin clients as you need.
• Scalable. For larger implementations, you can add many player host computers, each with its own monitors or remote/thin clients.
• Highly flexible. ActivViewer has the flexibility to display any webpage that comes from the ActivEssentials platform including reports, graphs, charts, etc., or any webpage available on your intranet or beyond.
• Simply configured. The set up for ActivViewer takes place in a web interface, where you can easily identify the computers that will act as player hosts, and the monitors and clients they manage. You can then define the slide shows that should display on each display from the already defined web views served by the ActivEssentials platform.
• Multiple slideshows. ActivViewer allows you to define customized, master slide shows for each display you use, and to define alternative slide shows that run according schedules or in response to triggers that recognize specified events on a production line, such as production incidents.
