The Core Foundation
At the heart of ActivEssentials® is a robust technology core that is critical for delivering information from the plant floor in a clear and concise fashion. The ActivEssentials® Core Foundation includes the patented Universal Factory Data Model as well as a rich set of administrative tools that aid the rapid configuration and deployment of the Activplant Performance Management System (APMS).
Developed in 1998, this powerful data model provides true manufacturing transparency to shop floor information. It is designed to enrich plant floor statistics with context, combining the data while maintaining the relationships between data collected from the automation layer, plant floor devices and other electronic sources with data manually captured or received from external systems. The UFDM has been characterized as “the single source of truth” by users.
Administration Tools
Flexibility, configurability and interoperability are the central attributes of the Core Foundation. The Administration Tools complement the UFDM and include a Mass Configuration Tool which facilitates replication of plant floor configurations across many lines or across multiple plants, an easy-to-use Drawing Tool for effortless plant and line layout, and a rich set of Business Rules which allow you to identify and control security and accessibility to the information flowing through the Core Foundation.
