Activplant Poised for Strong Year Ahead

Company sees over 50 per cent growth year on year; expands operations across North America opening new offices in Detroit and Boston

LONDON, ON – August 7, 2006 – Activplant Corporation, the standard in performance management solutions for the world’s leading manufacturers, has seen tremendous business development in the past year with over 50 per cent growth year on year and new customer contracts with some of the top names in the manufacturing industry including, Ford, Toyota and TRW.

The company also made some strategic changes to the executive team, notably the appointment of Boston-executive Ted Williams as the new CEO and the selection of Dennis Cocco, former Activplant CEO and industry thought leader, to the newly created role of Chief Product Strategist. The arrival of Williams was part of Cocco’s plan to appoint a successor when the business reached this stage of growth. Moreover, Frost & Sullivan recently recognized Activplant for its contribution to the manufacturing industry, by awarding it the 2006 Best Enabling Technology of the Year award for the Activplant Performance Management System (APMS) *.

"We are thrilled with the success which Activplant has seen over the past 12 months," said Ted Williams, CEO, Activplant. "Large manufacturers are continuing to realize the benefits of Activplant’s technology to improve their performance management – which helps them to compete globally, yet operate locally. Our intention over the coming months is to expand our customer base across automotive, consumer packaged goods and discrete manufacturing operations in both North America and Europe."

The growing demand for performance management solutions has also prompted Activplant to open offices in the Detroit and Boston areas, which will enable closer collaboration with potential and existing customers in those areas. The move will also help the company tap into the considerable revenue potential of the U.S. market. A recent Aberdeen Report found that only 20 per cent of North American companies undergoing performance management are considered "Best in Class". This presents a significant opportunity for Activplant to target those "Industry Norm" (50 per cent) or "Laggard" (30 per cent) companies who have yet to deploy these solutions.**

"Activplant’s deep industry knowledge and unique solutions for high-volume lean manufacturers clearly differentiates the company from others in the market," said Jane Biddle, vice president, global manufacturing research, Aberdeen Group. "I am confident that Activplant’s recent achievements will help build on its current momentum and enable the company to reach new levels of success."

The Detroit office will offer sales service, marketing and administrative support, while the sales office in Boston will service the growing consumer packaged goods (CPG) manufacturing hub. The company has also opened a training facility in Troy, MI, to ensure greater local support to the automotive industry. The company also plans to expand regional-based training across the U.S.
